Author’s Notes (May contains Spoilers)
This short represents my first break from trying to make horror work. Here, I simply wrote what I was interested in, and paid no particular mind to the format or perspective. It’s also longer, than my other shorts and far longer than the standard of r/Nosleep.
Inspired slightly by the concept of SCP, I wanted to tap into something more primal, playing with imagery and sounds. This short taught me a lot about exposition, pacing, and the fine line of descriptor text. I will carry the lessons learned here to my other shorts and novels, and is a prime example of what stepping outside of the comfort zone can do to a writer.
In my opinion, this short marked a turning point in my writing and the shorts after this have been of a much higher tier.
