The Winter Coat

My first attempt at non-cosmic horror, I wanted to try something a little more conventional. I wanted to play with the concept of ‘something innocuous being out of place’ and the idea of an ‘SCP info hazard’ (google it if you don’t know).

One interesting idea that I played with here, and will try and do a better job of in future shorts; I wanted the threat to be something indirect, something that won’t immediately hurt or kill you. The entity (I’ll just call it that) will continue to stalk the character, just making the person cold by being nearby. The implication is that you’ll be constantly freezing, unable to sleep. You’ll start losing your mind till you finally give in and let him kill you.

This is greatly implied and I think it’s subtle to the point that many may miss it. But the idea of that slow burn torture that no one else can see or believe is chilling (no pun intended) to me.
